GEM, KMS and DRI
Looks like FreeBSD / PC-BSD will be getting support for GEM/KMS in the near future!
The FreeBSD Foundation is pleased to announce that Konstantin Belousov has been awarded a grant to implement support of GEM, KMS, and DRI for Intel Drivers. This project is being co-sponsored by iXsystems. The project is to implement GEM, port KMS, and write new DRI drivers for Intel Graphics, including the latest Sandy Bridge generation of integrated graphic units. The work should allow the latest Intel open-source driver to run on FreeBSD, expanding the range of hardware where FreeBSD is suitable for the desktop.
For more details, take a look at the announcement e-mail:

This is good news. Will be there a public svn/cvs/whatever available to checkout the code ?
This is very good news, I just hope that once KMS is implemented that ati and nvidia KMS driver support is also going to be added, Or maybe support for the Linux KMS drivers.
This is really good news for Desktop BSD’s like PC-BSD. Next devd support for KDE would great.
Good news for Wayland and Sandy Bridge?
Bump. Any updates? Maybe a project link?
How long does a comment need to be to publish?
Work is progressing but it is too early yet for anything to be tested. We’ll definitely post on the blog (and incorporate into the testing snapshots) once something is ready to test.
A time ago I read that GEM/KMS code would be included into 9.0-RELEASE. Is this still true ? I think the initial code freezes will begin this mid-june, so I think the code should be available soon in case it is to be included into 9.0-RELEASE.
Any info/ETA on this ?
I have tried out the PC-BSD 9.0 Live DVD and the KMS support is still not working , hopefully soon they will have code stable enough to put into that distribution. That would be awesome.
