This is exactly what I think, abet his portraying of the facts is much more coherent.

You guys are geniuses. The PBI work is excellent. I'm also impressed with jails and the file system. Thanks for the work you're doing. I notice from this page:
http://wiki.pcbsd.org/index.php/PBI_Manager

It's Kris Moore. Here Ken Moore. Brothers?
Anyways I haven't got PCBSD working yet, drivers problems of course. I have a new motherboard with a nvida based graphics card. Maybe I can get it to work. I tried BSD back around 6.0, 5.0, ? Couldn't get it to work. Lots of Linuxes over the years but the haphazard way Linux is put together turns me off. I've always liked the way BSD is packaged and it's stability.
PBI reminds me of STOW by IBM. I always wondered why someone didn't follow that line of thought. Also I don't like command lines. I used DOS back in the day and hated it. I have no desire to memorize commands or write them on sheets of paper I have to carry around. Maybe that doesn't make me one of the enlightened one but I hate command lines. And yes I know I have to do a little command line for BSD but I'd like to keep it to a minimum. Thanks for all the work you guys are doing.

How bad is support likely to be for a solid but long-in-the-tooth laptop (e.g., HP nx6110), in terms of WiFi, power/battery management, and sleep/wake issues?

Even heavily traded non-Win OS's seem not to have a very solid story on this, so I'm not incredibly hopeful, but I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised.

Perseo » I am actually working on updating the EasyPBI page on the PC-BSD wiki right now with that kind of information. When I am done with it, the wiki page should have a general tutorial about how to use EasyPBI, as well as more detailed information for all of the options available.
I also plan on posting a general tutorial on how to create non-port PBI's as well, but it will be a bit longer before that is finished, simply because I want to show not only how to use EasyPBI for it (which is really simple), but also how to organize the local directory beforehand to take advantage of a lot of the automatic PBI path settings and such.

Definitely a great job, congratulations. :D

Have you thought about making a Handbook for Easy GDP 2.0? If I could include practical examples would be great!
