You’ll have to make sure that AppCafe is configured to use EDGE. Otherwise, wait until RELEASE is available if you want to stay on PRODUCTION. See the Handbook PDF on the desktop for details.

The AppCafe does not show the updated versions under the “installed” tab, but when I browse to one, it shows the updated version.

Is there anything else besides being on “EDGE” that needs to be done to see these updates? Do I need to upgrade the base OS?

Uninstalling and installing firefox shows 35 in the “installed” tab now, but does not start.

      Did the firefox get resolved?

I ended up wiping my HDD and starting fresh with the RC1 install. Firefox was at v35 at that point.

I still have a 10.1 iso. Would it still help if I tested again?

        • January 26, 2015 at 5:24 am |

You shouldn’t have to reinstall to test. Once the upstream issue is fixed and the fixed pkg built, it will show up as an update for EDGE users.

As an update, there is a bug in the upstream port regarding firefox and gtk, a fix is being worked on and a new version should be out soon.

If it’s technical possible, I would prefer a hybrid ISO for non-UEFI and UEFI systems. In this way the ISO keeps its status quo as a multipurpose installer for all type of systems.

    • January 22, 2015 at 8:36 am |

We tried that with 10.1, but it didn’t work with some EFI/BIOSs. We have some open bug tickets to fix UEFI/USB booting, and once that’s fixed Kris may be able to re-integrate the images.

    • January 23, 2015 at 9:27 am |

As an update, Kris just fixed the bug and is rolling hybrid ISO’s for RC2 (due out early next week).

I’ve just performed the software update (system running PC-BSD 10.1, recently installed with Edge in update manager). FireFox was already was at v 33.1, and download indicated new version was 35.0.1, but v 33.1 is still showing up, and app cafe indicated 35.0.1 is already installed. LibreOf

Unfortunately FreeBSD is dead for desktop.

I’d like to view Flash, Nvidia/AMD working natively without using Linux emulation.

    There aren’t “Stable systems”:
    You makes the stability!

    • January 23, 2015 at 6:34 am |

We’ve tried for years to get native flash, but that decision is up to the company making that proprietary technology… We do have native NVIDIA drivers though.
